MONTES DEL PLATA

In 2010, Montes del Plata, a forestry company founded in Uruguay in 2009 from the merger of two forestry companies: Arauco and Stora Enso, began a project to build a new cellulose pulp mill in Uruguay.
Initially Ingener was contracted to build the 15 kV (MV) temporary power distribution network for the purpose of supplying all the areas involved in the construction of the pulp mill.
The work consisted of the execution of the medium voltage temporary network for supplying energy to the various contractors who would participate in the plant construction.
Our work comprised the master plan, stringing of overhead and underground lines, MV/LV substations and the street lighting. In addition, we built 4 km of fiber optics and telephone cables, also as a part of the temporary services.
Subsequently, a contract with Montes del Plata was closed for the connection works of 150kV Punta Pereira pulp mill.
Ingener was responsible for the: executive documents, civil works, electro-mechanical assembly and commissioning of Montes del Plata own substation, UTE substation located at Punta Pereira and the upgrade of a 150kV bay in the UTE transmission substation located at Colonia.
This was performed together with SACEEM, which built the high voltage line between the mill and Colonia, and has high voltage protection and equipment made by SIEMENS.
In 2011, HONEYWELL, a company specializing on control systems for first-rate oil and paper plants, awarded Ingener the contract for the installation of the central control system and the fire prevention system of the mill. Our scope of supply included the provision of the control switchboards, which were built in Montevideo’s free trade zone and then installed in the new pulp mill.
In mid-2012, Montes del Plata granted Ingener a contract for the electrical and instrumentation balance of plant. This contract implied being able to execute a large volume work within a tight period.
