Valenzuela, Paraguay — 2021/2024

Construction of the 500 kV Valenzuela substation began in 2021. It will become Paraguay’s most important infrastructure, enabling the country, for the first time, to make use of 100% of the energy generated by the binational Itaipú hydroelectric plant.

The project, which also includes the interconnection to the national power system, was awarded to Consorcio San José, made up of Ingener together with Saceem (Uruguay) and Concret Mix (Paraguay).

Specifically, the project involves the construction of a new transformer substation in Valenzuela, in the department of Cordillera, and the sectioning of 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines, along with other complementary works.
