Pilar, Buenos Aires Province — 2016/2017
Client: Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico S.A. Subcontract for APR
Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico S.A. awarded APR Energy the installation, commissioning and operation, on a very tight schedule (3 months), of a 215 MW power generation plant interconnected to the Matheu power plant and 132 kV substation in the city of Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina, to be operated for a period of 5 years.
With this project, which marked the start of its operations in Argentina, Ingener was selected as the contractor responsible for the electrical and mechanical installation of the plant. The plant consisted of 10 dual-fuel (diesel and gas) aeroderivative gas turbine generators of 25 MW each, along with all the services required for their operation: cooling water, fuel supply, electrical and control installation, and the 132 kV interconnection to Edenor’s existing substation.
The execution schedule was a key factor in this project, as the plant had to begin operating before the 2016/17 summer to meet the increase in power demand driven by the use of air conditioning during high temperatures.
