Colonia, Uruguay — 2011/2013
Client: Montes del Plata – Conchillas Mill
Montes del Plata is a forestry company founded in Uruguay in 2009 as a joint venture between Arauco and Stora Enso. In 2010, it launched the construction project for a new pulp mill in the country.
At the start of the project, Ingener was hired to install the 15 kV (MV) temporary power distribution network to supply all construction areas of the pulp mill.
The work consisted of building the temporary medium-voltage construction network to supply electricity to the various contractors involved in the construction of the mill.
Our work included:
-Detailed design and installation of overhead and underground lines, MV/LV substations and the road lighting network.
-4 km of fiber optic and telephone cables, also part of the temporary services network.
Subsequently, a contract was signed with Montes del Plata for the 150 kV power supply works for the pulp mill in Punta Pereira.
Ingener’s participation included:
-Detailed engineering.
-Civil works.
-Electromechanical installation.
-Commissioning of Montes del Plata’s own substation and UTE’s substation in Punta Pereira.
-Expansion of a 150 kV bay at UTE’s Colonia Transmission Substation. This work was carried out together with SACEEM, which built the high-voltage line between the mill and Colonia, with high-voltage equipment and electrical protection supplied by SIEMENS.
In 2011, HONEYWELL, a specialist in control systems for leading industrial plants in the oil and paper sectors, awarded Ingener the contract for the installation of the mill’s Central Control System and Fire Detection System. Our scope included the manufacture of the control panels, built in the Montevideo Free Trade Zone and then installed at the new pulp mill.
In mid-2012, Montes del Plata awarded Ingener the Electrical and Instrumentation Balance of Plant contract, which required the capacity to execute a large-volume project within a short timeframe.
