Punta del Tigre, Uruguay — 2012

Client: UTE. Subcontract for APR

Between 2010 and 2012, UTE faced a critical power generation situation due to low water levels in its dams.

As a result, it contracted ALSTOM POWER RENTAL (APR) to provide an Emergency Generation Service based on four portable aeroderivative gas turbines of 25 MW each, totaling 100 MW, installed at UTE’s Punta del Tigre Power Plant in Colonia Wilson. These turbines run on diesel or natural gas.

APR entrusted Ingener with the works required to connect them to UTE’s 150 kV grid.

The works included:

-Civil works and medium- and high-voltage electrical works,

-Mechanical works, including fuel supply and auxiliary piping for the turbines.

-Commissioning and related tasks carried out with the participation of Ingener’s Services area.

It was a major challenge due to the required timeframe and the combination of disciplines. The works and commissioning were executed to an excellent standard thanks to the commitment and effort of the entire Ingener team.
